I lost some hair in the shower today. You don't care? Well, that's okay, because I really didn't expect you to. Matter of fact it didn't bother me that much either. But in my scriptures for today I was reminded that that is how much God loves me, He cared. He counted them this morning and made a note of how many there were. WOW! The God who created the universe, placed the sun and moon in the sky and told them when to appear and hide, the God who placed the stars in the heavens and gave each one a name, the God who attends every sparrows funeral, yes, that God, cares about the hairs on our heads.
You know if He is that concerned with an empty hair follicle, I believe He is just as concerned about the larger things in our lives. Things that we don't even take to Him because it overwhelms us or because we think it is too menial for Him. He is even concerned with us wanting to take care of our bodies and He stands there cheering us on when we are working at it. I could just see Him this morning as Claresa was making me do crunches and leg lifts and such, (she was trying to kill me) but God was there just laughing and trying to hold my legs up for me.
God is rooting for you today too, no matter how hard it gets in trying to discipline this body, it will be worth it all when we can fit back into those clothes. But more than that He is also standing ready to help with the other needs you have in your heart, family, job, finances, marriage, children, or wherever the need may be. The Bible says we are to lay aside every weight that would so easily beset us, I think this refers to burdens, cares and concerns that God doesn't want us to tote because it slows us down and hinders us from doing what He has called us to do. We know what that is like to carry around unwanted pounds!!! So I challenge you today to give it ALL to Him.
Remember, losing hair is not a tragedy (that is if it is one or two) but it is a triumph because it reminds us just how much He loves us.
