Well, it has been a busy weekend, but a good one. We were in two different churches Sunday, with 2 great services, 5 people saved, and many hearts and lives touched. Then we left Monday at 4:00 am for the airport to fly to Branson for leadership meetings. We have already seen many old and new friends. Looking forward to this week.
While in church Sunday, my eyes scanned over the page of scriptures we were reading and I saw a verse I don't think I have ever seen. It is Romans 16:20 and it says, "And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly!" My heart leaped inside of me!
I remember as a child in the summertime running around barefooted. You probably remember those days as well. Today my feet are too tender to do it. I use to love the feel of the cool dirt between my toes and the feel of grass under my feet. I am going to be really honest with you, but for those with a weak stomach, you may want to skip this paragraph. Anyhow, when I was little, I loved the dirt so much that I would run around barefooted and then bite my toenails. The dirt tasted soooooo good. I know it is gross and no I don't still do that. But it is what it is.
It was always neat to see what we could step on and crush, bugs, weeds, etc. But there were always things too large for us to crush. Sometimes it took someone with a larger foot then ours to crush the thing that needed to be crushed.
Now as adults we find in our spiritual walk there are things the devil brings our way that with the help of the Holy Spirit we are able to crush and destroy. But then there are things that seem to be so overwhelming to us, lies and deceptions from hell, burdens, cares of this life, anything that tries to keep us from being who God called us to be and doing what He called us to do.
But the good news is found right there in Romans 16:20 as big as life and written for you and I. God promises us that He, the God of peace, our heavenly Father will crush Satan under our feet shortly. I wondered why He said He would crush him under our feet. But I think it is like when God fights the battle and we go in and claim the victory. This time He is going to crush Satan and we get to claim the victory while we stand with him under our feet.
The best part of this is that He also says it will happen shortly. Don't be discouraged, my dear friend, if Satan is tormenting you today just take a moment and quote this scripture to him and let him know that his end is near, it will be shortly. Stand on that promise every day. Don't let the devil win, just polish your shoes and get ready because shortly you will be standing firm with your foot on his head!
