Love Isn't "Me First"

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, doesn't have a swelled head, doesn't force itself on others, isn't always "me first", doesn't fly off the handle, doesn't keep score of the sins of others, doesn't revel when others grovel, takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end. (I Corinthians 13:4-7,THE MESSAGE)

IF we were all honest, we would have to admit that we like things in our life that are all about "me first". We like it when things go our way, when we get the attention or approval of others, when we get it first or people cater to us. Unfortunately that is part of the carnal nature.

But God's word tell us in I Corinthians 13 all about how love is supposed to be and what it is supposed to be. And that is NOT about me first. It is more about others, their happiness, meeting their needs, catering to them.

The challenge today is to read this scripture and put your name where the word Love is. Then ask yourself if you really do fit the desription. Then work diligently to allow God to help us become the person who can love as God says to love.
