"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other." (Romans 12:9-10, NIV)
This is such a foreign thought in today's society- to honor each other. It is always more about me and what is in it for me. But this scripture is plain when it says that we are to love with sincerity. Hate what is evil and cling to that which is good. Not, play footsies with that which is evil or get very tolerant of evil. Instead we are to hate it and run from it. Then cling to that which is good, run to that.
Then to love with genuine affection. Not that fakey stuff. You have seen them I am sure that try to impress people or not be real in order to get their way. Those who will say or do anthing to get what they want. But God says we are to be genuine in our love for each other.
We are also to take delight in honoring each other. The word says to give honor to whom honor is due. We need to take delight in honoring them. When we are sincere in our love for others, then we think less about ourselves and we truly want what is best for others.
My challenge today is to show sincere love to those around us and give honor to whom honor is due. Be concerned about someone else today. How can you delight in giving honor to them?
